Biography:
The Silver Surfer, whose real name is Norrin Radd, is a cosmic being in the Marvel Universe. He made his first appearance in *The Fantastic Four* #48 (March 1966).
Originally a brilliant astronomer from the planet Zenn-La, Radd made a bargain with Galactus, a cosmic entity who consumes planets to survive. To save his home world, Radd volunteered to become Galactus' herald, searching the universe for uninhabited planets for Galactus to devour.
Galactus imbued Radd with the Power Cosmic, transforming him into the Silver Surfer. He gained immense power, a silver appearance, and a surfboard-like craft that allows him to travel at near-light speed. Eventually, the Surfer rebelled against Galactus due to his growing empathy for the life he was leading Galactus to destroy.
